Amazing People
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 | All Posts
I have seen a few different shows/movies lately about some amazing people. One of them is about a man who is deaf and blind, yet he is an artist and does everything by feel. Also, a blind boy in a wheelchair who can play multiple instruments.
On a little different note of amazing people, I greatly admire those people who are in horrible situations and work hard to get themselves and sometimes their families out of those situations. Kids who get themselves into good programs to stay out of gangs and other unfortunate lifestyles.
I also have a cousin I admire greatly. Her name is Krystal Shirley. She is now 27, but was run over by a car when she was four years old. She is a quadriplegic, yet she is a better artist than I ever could be. She paints with her mouth, and does an amazing job. Here are two pictures of what she has done.

Cnadace…you are making me look bad. I have never posted anything like this and she is my sister-in-law! I have to agree with you. Krystal is above amazing. If I could only be half of what she is. I love her with all my heart. My children climb all over her chair to kiss her and give her hugs. Just imagine how that must hurt her inside to not be able to wrap her arms around her nieces ad nephews. I wish I could paint like she is able to…and I have the use of both of my hands. (by looking at my drawings you wouldn’t think I do) hahaha I wish every day that she wasn’t in the position that she is in. We all love her more than she knows.

I grew up with Krystal and remember the accident really well. Despite her circumstances I still remember having so much fun growing up on the same street. We played like normal little girls played. She always amazed me at how positive and happy she remained and she always had a great sense of humor!
I love the whole family, such neat people!
Wow! That is amazing! I know Nicole (Shirley) Oakdon is amazing and she says so many great things about her sister! What a neat family. That is awesome that you are related!

I, also, haven’t met a Bower’s family member yet that doesn’t impress me!

I am a former teacher of Krystal Shirley from Clark High School. She was in my biology class and brought an amazing perspective to everything she touched. I am writing today because I had a very vivid dream with Krystal about 2 or 3 weeks ago. She drove me around sitting on the tray connected to her wheel chair and we talked about her going on to go to her next competition. I was curious how she is doing and I thought this may be the format to find that out. Thank you for loving this incredible young woman who has so many obstacles and yet has always had a zest for life.
