Perfume

This post may seem a little different but I am interested to see what other people think. Before Cole was born, Brian and I had a conversation about perfume. He thought it was nice to have one signature perfume or smell. That way every time you smell that particular smell, you remember that person. I have always been a person who liked many different perfumes. My philosophy was that you need a different perfume for every season. For instance, I like “Still” by Jennifer Lopez, in the fall because it has a musty smell to it. “Shi” by Alfred Sung for spring because it is a soft smell that reminds me of being renewed, which also reminds me of spring. Do I look too much into this, or does anyone else feel the same way?

Hey there, I like this post! Right now I can’t stand the smell of perfumes, but I am totally a lover otherwise! Even though I have maybe 20 or so perfumes, I am MOSTLY on Brian’s side. The 2 perfumes I have been known for are Amarige de Givenchy, (which I found from Brian in high school) and I still wear it every Sunday. I LOVE it. But all through high school I wore Estee Lauder PLeasures. I also love D.G. Light Blue for summer, and Pink from Victorias Secret. Whenever I smell Abercrombie and Fitch , I think of Jamie. She wore it on her wedding day.
And Mom is an Eternity girl.

Even though I like smelling different perfumes, I think I have to go with Brian on this. If I wear anything other than Abercrombie 8 I start feeling sick by the end of the day. I wore it so much that people always told me that the smell reminded me of them. I actually started using it when I would still it from Roach. Sadly, I ran out last December and haven’t been able to buy any since. (Did you know you’d get my perfume history or what?) Candace always smells good, Stacey reminds me of Amarige, and Rachel still always smells like Herbal Essence to me. And Stacey- what’s with the smiley about my wedding day? I don’t get it.:)

So do you like different colognes on your husband? Or just a certain one. I was curious.
I totally agree, I change my perfumes for different things, like work, church and just hanging out for the day. It just depends on my mood!
Stacey- I totally think of you when I see Amarige at the mall. I remember when Brian and Kenny had the perfume card in their wallet!

seee…..I have an amarige reputation. Funny thing is, I smelled the best lady in Primary and said she smelled divine, What was it? Amarige! I didn’t even recognize it.

I used to think a person should have a signature smell. I was all about the Abercrombie 8 perfume. I have been wearing it for almost a decade. However, this past year the smell on me makes me want to barf a little. I need to look into different perfumes next time I am at the mall, so thanks for the recommendations.

I totally remember Brian and Kenny carrying around that perfume card. I used to think it was so funny that they were so in love with that scent. I agree with Brian, I had a girlfriend that had a “vanilla” car freshener, and one time she snuck it into my car after a campfire night and I couldn’t get her out of my mind when i was driving.
The main problem with that whole “one scent” thing is that people get too used to the scent and then they totally over apply it (my brother and brother-in-law way over apply and about knock us out when they walk by.)
I have just a few that I use and that has worked for me, because when i can’t smell or get to used to one i switch to the next.
I agree with your husband. When I smell certain perfumes I think of different people. I haven’t kept up on many new perfumes, but my ultimate favorite to this day is CK. I just like how it is subtle and not too strong.
I hardly wear any…I don’t know maybe I should. I would have to agree with you though.. We don’t wear the same clothing colors all year long. You have to change it up! Now that you mention this I might just have to go pick up some nice perfume. Thanks for the blog.

Hey Shaun reminded me of a Nate story. When I was dating him I snuck into his room at his apartment and rubbed my wrist (with Amarige on it) onto his pillow. He said he loved it after we got married. What a sneaky snake I am.
Linda, I have to say I don’t mind either way what Brian wears. I just love the smell of cologne. I do love that when he holds Cole though, his smell his transferred and it smells good.

Stacey, that reminds me of my scent story with Nate. He hated the smell of my hairspray enough to actually comment on it. (Jerk.) So I went and sprayed it on his pillow. Lots of it. Haaaaa haaaa. I am evil………
Candace – good to know you do it too. I have 4 different perfumes I love (One of them is Amarige di Gavenchi that Linda gave me). mmm such a good winter perfume. I’ve got Lilu for summer spring, lucky for fall or spring, Kenneth Cole Black for fall and winter, and Givenchi sp? for winter and fancy fall outings. haha! so no, I don’t think you think too much about it.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for spring and summer…Burberry Brit for fall and winter
I have a really strong sense of smell so if I get a whiff of something familiar it can take me down memory lane.
I prefer Scott to stick with the same scent…when I smell his cologne it seems familar and comforting to me.

I had to come back and add Chanel’s Allure. Very grown-up and winter sexy. Also, I wore Body from Victoria’s secret today and 6 (SIX!!!!) wasps followed my in my van. Freaky. Last but not least, Tara, did you know Light Blue is the world’s number one selling fragrance. I lovey it too.
Candace! I LOVE Still! I heard it’s discontinued, how sad!
